My infill plane is 9" long and 2.5" wide with a 2" iron. It features a brass screw cap with a ¾" knurled knob. The tool has a 2" steel iron hardened to RC 62. All infills have spacers to center the iron to make adjusting easy.- When made of Cocobolo, this plane is 6 lbs. 4 oz., so it is a heavy little sucker. The sole is lapped flat to 1200 grit paper, and the mouth dimension is .001-.003 I try to get it down to .002. The plane has a hardened A strike button that will last more than a lifetime. The wood is polished and buffed out. The iron is set 45,47,50,55, or 60 At 50 this plane will handle some of the worst woods you can come across... such as figured Bubinga (one of the hardest woods to plane... it's even hard to scrape), Cocobolo, Lacewood, Ipe, and Purpleheart. Figured American woods are a breeze.
Great care is made in building this tool. It is constructed for a lifetime of planing. The cost of this fantastic plane is only $650 shipped. Japanese ironed infills start at $750 shipped. Please allow a 4 x12 week lead time. The pocket infill is 5" long 2" wide and about 2.5" high the iron is bedded at 12 degrees. The iron is 1.5" wide and is sharpened at 30 degrees. The small infill is 5" high 4" high and 2" wide and has a 1.5" wide iron. . . Infill Plane - $650 |
